Proofreading can be boring and reading through a dreary writing app can also be too but an easy way I find words which I use too much is to make a word cloud.

Activist/Athlete Steve Austin believes that everyone deserves easy access to quality BBQ, not just the “Smoked Meat 1%” living in America’s privileged BBQ Belt.

This would be funny if it wasn’t a multi-billion dollar corporation making fun of those fighting for equality.Wendy’s fail.

"#228. I get tired sometimes of feeling like I have to validate other people’s feelings and experiences with adoption. As soon as I mention any detail or bit about my story, it immediately makes them think of someone (either family or friend) they knew who adopted and then they proceed to tell me the whole story and ask me questions about things they don’t understand or lecture me about adoption facts and procedures, as if they are some great expert from the few articles and stories they have read and heard. But who is going to validate my experience for what it’s worth? Who out there will listen without going on about so and so’s story and how beautiful a family they make now? Will anyone listen to me for just me?"

As an adopted person, I do not find this funny at all. To all those who did laugh at this line, thanks for laughing at adoptee pain. You’re (edit) an individual who needs to educate themselves on the plight of adoptees.

This gif set had me a bit emotional last night. I’ve edited this post I made to make it SFW and also to attempt to reach people who don’t know about adoptee issues instead of just alienating them. So, if you read it last night and took offense to my word usage, sorry. But, I’m not sorry for pointing out that Hollywood still sees fit to make fun of adoptees.

Here’s a test for you, in case you’re wondering if a joke you’re thinking of making about is appropriate: Trade the word adoptee or adopted for black, African American, any other race/ethnicity/gender/religion, etc. If the joke is “suddenly” not funny because it’s racist or sexist, etc, then here’s a tip for you - it was never funny.

Case in point, take the dialogue from the Avengers movie as shown above and trade out “He’s adopted” with “He’s black.” Suddenly racist? Yeah. Then why do you think it’s any more funny to make fun of adopted people and the hell we go through?

everybody stop what you’re doing, its a cat cleaning a baby

"Stupid furless humans can’t take care of their kitten, I have to do everything myself."

My favourite thing is baby sitting up thinking “What the fuck is that?”  Then seeing the cat, thinks “Very well, continue.”

Stupid furless humans.

Very well, continue.

THINGS TO DO ON SAMHAIN

image

I know many celebrate Samhain on the 21st, and that some look to the skies for when Samhain is, but we at WhichDesigns celebrate it on the 31st of October.

Here is what we do on Samhain:

Before Samhain:

  • Hang paper Bats from the ceiling
  • Decorate the home…

Oh, hey, this will be cool! Let’s read and see what neat ideas they have..

  • Build a Shrine to your Ancestors
  • Share Stories about Ancestors and loved ones who have passed

..oh.. look.. more stuff I can’t do because I’m adopted. Thanks, adoption!
